"Owe!"

"Oh, quite whining." she whispered. The needle buzzed in her hand, gloved and tiny, and ink dripped down the flesh of the man's back. He was obviously not very old, and this was his first tattoo. Figured she'd get a whiner. She always got the whiners. It's like they just seemed to swarm her, like she had a "Hey, come annoy me" sign around her neck. Then again, most of the one's that came here were horny young college men looking for an easy lay, and Areana guess that she just looked like one of those girls.

Just to push her luck a little, Areana dug the humming instrument in a little deeper than necessary.

"Owe! Damnit, are you sure you're a professional?!"

Areana didn't answer this question, she merely smiled faintly and continued creating the small piece of art on this young man's back. Her eyes, blue and childlike, squinted as she concentrated on moving the needle, on creating a little masterpiece. She loved tattooing, though she didn't have but two herself, and those were Avian tattoo's, hidden on the small of her neck by her long brown hair, which was pulled back into a loose ponytail at the moment. Blood and ink oozed, and she wiped it away with a small towel. Black and blood red... such beautiful colors. Again, she smiled, but this time it was small, almost blissful. Areana always felt best when working, wheither on a tattoo or canvas.

"There," she said quietly, barely audible over the music that Nina had blaring on the speakers today, "Done for today."

The young man stood up and looked at the tattoo in the mirror beside Areana's chair, flexing his shoulder to get a better look. He smiled, satisfied. "So, when do I come back in to finish it?"

"You can come in on Thursday, and you're skin should be ready to finish it."

He nodded, and she went to the cash register, peeling the gloves off of her slender hands and throwing the ink/blood stained rubber items into the trash on her way by. He paid for his tattoo after she gauzed it. The little bell tinkled on his way out, and Areana turned back to her chair. Sitting down, she glanced at the chair next to hers, where someone else was being worked on, and then grabbed her soda, taking a swing from the plastic bottle. Today was a good day so far. Maybe that kid wouldn't be so rude on Thursday when he came back in to finish that crow he was getting tattoo'd. Areana looked at her lap, and sighed.

"Hey, I'm gonna take a break." she called out, and took her soda, walking to the back of the shop. Washing her hands, she sat down again, this time in a chair behind the piercing booth, and pulled her legs up to her chest, sipping from her soda idly. She wanted for either someone else to come in and request her for a tattoo, or to get off of work already, so that she could go upstairs and work on that painting, the one she was making of her brother Mevrin in his crane form. She pouted a little, thinking about her brother, how he died the way he did. Areana just guessed that she was glad it hadn't been her. However horrible that may sound.
